What an AWESOME night! I think I will begin at the beginning (usually a good place to start) - Dave Alvin was excellent. He and his band put on a great show - I was glad we got there in time. Sam even came out and sang a song with them!

The jugglers that performed in between were funny - as I was able to heckle them a bit. Did I mention where our seats were? Front row center baby! :-)

Did I mention that every one of the ladies in my group was looking smokin'? anyway - I digress...

The BoDeans came out (lookin' pretty damn good as well!) - and started playing (set list at the end of this post). It was pure magic - I told my friends on more than one occasion that I felt like the guys were playing just for me. (I was then promptly thanked for allowing so many others to come to the party! Damn the vodka was tasting good! HA!)

Some highlights:
1. Bobby let us 'play' the bass with him - 4 different times, patted us both on the head when we showed him the sign during "Feed the Fire", and rolled us a bottle of water about half way thru the show (I guess we looked dehydrated?)!
2. Kenny gave me a stick at the end of the night (another hot drum performance I might add!)
3. Carl's son hooked me up with a setlist AGAIN! I'm telling ya - great parenting going on in that house! :-)
4. The music was sooo good that we actually missed the countdown to midnight - it was a good 2 or 3 minutes after 12 when the host came out and quickly counted it down... funny - I really didn't care at that point!

So here's the setlist:
Fadeaway
Said Hello
617
Texas Ride
Two Souls
Still the Night
Sleep
Good Work (with NYE countdown)
Crazy
No One
Don't Get Much
Live
True Devotion
Idaho
Naked
Closer to Free
----1st break-----
Once in a While
Runaway (del Shannon intro)
Feed the Fire
----2nd break----
If it Makes U
Good Things

Peace and Love everyone - and here's to a Happy 2005!

Well - the pictures weren't that grainy when I was looking at them before posting... sorry about that!

Also - I forgot to tell ya what the sign said - "We Love You Bobby!" We kept it clean - and it was a good thing as they were rolling video all night long! :-)

Kelly - good pics!

I'm not sure that words can really express how great NYE was! Our day started off by hanging out with Harry, Carrie, Val, George, and Kerri in the hallway of our motel. Then it was off to Milwaukee. Harry and Carrie joined us for lunch at Mo's (how many Mo's does one town need?) and a walk around downtown (yes I'd like to buy some beer and a smile would be nice). I really love the architecture in Milwaukee! Later that evening we all went up to Kerri's suite and had a wild time. This was a gathering of old and new friends. Kerri - thank you for everything! It was so nice to finally meet you and I can't wait to see you again. I must say that all of us piling into the whirlpool tub for a photo was the best! We then headed over to Mo's to meet up with the rest of the BoDeans gang. I apologize if I don't remember everyone's name (a few martinis will do that to ya). Big Red and Nancy - it was great meeting you. It was as though we had always known each other. Mary, it was great meeting you and your husband as well. I hope he enjoyed his Christmas present! Sara, it was nice to meet your husband and I'd like to thank him for putting up with us as I'm sure we seemed a little crazy. It was so great to see you again and I hope we'll get you back in our home town again. Minerva and Tom - Ah Minerva - love ya, girl! It was great finally meeting Tom, and what a guy he is. I'm glad he enjoyed the shows! I hope we can still meet up in the spring for another BoDeans reunion. Kathy - what can I say, but thank you for everything. Thanks for grabbing my hand and pulling me down front at the Pabst. Sorry we never made it to Linneman's. We were freezing our butts off waiting for a cab. I tried showing some leg, but a cab isn't what I got. Frank, it was nice meeting you, too. Jill-you're a sweetie. If anyone missed it, Harry was wearing his mistletoe belt and we have pictures to prove it! Since this is a family board, we'll keep it clean (Kerri - you know what I'm talking about). The show left me speechless! I found myself tearing up on several songs - just thinking how lucky we were to be experiencing something so wonderful. I caught a few smiles from Sam and Greg caught a point and a nod from Bob. At one point Greg and I looked over at Val who was rockin' away and all smiles and that just said it all. We were in the middle of our all our friends and what an experience it was. George - thanks for the BIG NYE hug. It was a pleasure partying with you. Sue - I'm glad we got to see you at the end of the night. I hope your niece enjoyed the show Thursday night. This was the best NYE that we have ever had and I want to thank everyone and the BoDeans for making this happen. Kurt, Sam, Bob, Bukka and Kenny - you touched my heart both nights and you have no idea how happy I felt and how lucky I felt to be a part of something so wonderful. Your music (Kevin included) has given me strength when I've needed it, comfort when I'm down, and the happiness to rock on! THANK YOU!

Harry and Carrie - I hope you made it home ok and Harry, I hope you got your pizza. We love you guys and I only wish we lived closer to each other. However, like Carrie said, the fact that you and Greg think too much alike, might get you both into trouble. We'll be in touch.

Happy New Year to everyone and may this new year be a safe and happy one for all. As Greg noted under the Madison post, we have a lot of pictures and will post them later.

Peace and love,
Jeanette

Hey Kelly great pics.Maybe you can show me how to work at a concert venue because it only seems to work in hotels for me.It was great seeing everyone again and meeting new "family" members.I'm not gonna name everyone let's just say we've met a lot of great and wonderful people through this band and I'd like to thank every one of them for the kindness they've shown Carrie and I.
Okay.As usual airports suck so I won't bore you with those details.I can't give a review of the Madison show because I only saw about 3-4 songs.Let's just say I had some equipment problems and got extremely irritated so I took a walk. But the guys were kicking buttocks at the time. The NYE show was awesome. They put on one heluva show. Great crowd at least by us,anyways.
Seemed to me alot people walked out of there with big smiles on their faces.Anyways thanks to the BoDeans and EVERYONE I met there. You made Carrie and I have our best NYE"s ever. And we've had a few NYE.

They were so into the shows and just GREAT!!!!! Thank you,BoDeans, for once again putting on a great show! And we hope 2005 is a wonderful year for all of you!!!!!

We hope everyone got home safely-our flights home were fine-seems to be only on the way there that we have problems....

I think Harry sumed it up perfectly.....

"BEST NEW YEARS, EVER" :-)

Jeanette said "Val who was rockin' away" -=- yes, yes, I was going a *little* crazy that night, hopefully I didn't offend anyone or intrude into anyone's personal bubble, if so....I apologize. I guess it was a mix of the wonderful people I was surrounded by, the wonderful music and of course a little alcohol mixed in too! :-)

Sorry these pics aren't better quality...

And of course you can't forget these people who made the night so special.

OMG Kelly, Val, and Greg... all of your pics are fab! Thanks for sharing. I know that Jill got plenty also (a REALLY good one of Mr Aranoff mugging for us among them...) and when she gives me the green light, I'll get them up here for ya. Greg, that pic of Bobby singing into the mic far stage right (so THAT'S what that was!) is priceless. Do you think that mic was the reason our little spoilsport was keeping fans back from that corner? All except for Jill that is... he gave her carte blanche all evening. Let's just say that when the DVD comes out, our group will likely be very well heard!

Some highlights for me this weekend:

Hanging with all of you; Deans fans rock!

Getting to strum Bob's bass at the Barrymore..."ain't this what dreams are made of?"

Harry's mistletoe belt...nuff said! And Carrie, your evening dress just might have been the most elegant one in the place that night!

Val, Jill, are ya with me on this one? It was so much fun to have that young'un come up to us at Mo's post show and give us all such a nice compliment. We WERE looking FAB!

Having dinner Sat night at the Water St Brewery and hearing "If It Makes U"!! Now that was a first for me. And Minerva, this may be small consolation but I doubt you would have heard it in Mader's...

Dave Alvin... same goes, nuff said. The man was AWESOME!

Thanks to the band and all of you weary travelers that made this weekend so special...

Just wanted to drop a quick post here to thank all of you very nice people for making Lisa and I feel so welcome. It was a blast meeting all of you, and who knows, maybe we can do it again. Hell, Boston ain't that far, right! The only downer is the night went like a flash, and I didn't get a chance to say goodbye to many of you before I stumbled back to the Hilton! My wife and I thought the BoDeans put on one helluva a show, and I'm hoping they head east soon for a tour or two. I was particularly blown away by the great vocals of Sammy. I knew he was good, but seeing him live is a different story. We really had a blast on NYE, and again, thanks TO ALL OF YOU for being such a great bunch. We certainly won't forget it! Until next time...

No, no, thank YOU Dave for getting me all hyped up for Dave Alvin! And thanks to your lovely wife for sharing space with me; had a great time jammin' with her during his set. (That was you guys, right??) Anyway, it is good to hear that many travelers felt MKE and Mad-town fans treated them right.

This NYE was certainly one for the record books! Don't be surprised if some of us WI folks get out east come spring either... plans are already in the works! April is sounding pretty good; let's keep our collective fingers crossed for some confirmed dates...

Oh, and Big Red; thanks for suggesting Mo's for cocktails that evening. The private bar upstairs was a perfect spot for folks to gather... and their Martini's weren't bad either; right Jeanette and Mary?

Hey Mary and Bert... where are you?? Everything OK at home? Darn but it was wonderful to see you both again! Jill has a great pic of the 2 of you, BTW...

What a perfect night!

A great gathering at Kerri's suite complete with great tunes and Jello shots a plenty, shiny shoes and lots of great pics - thanks to Tom for taking the group pictures (while standing on window-sill ledge and balancing a tray of jello shots); THEN

The awesome crowd at Mo's (thanks to Big Red and Kathy for securing the room upstairs) and to the fans who joined us chatting the night away; I tried to take pictures of everyone...wish I had thought of that sign-in book sooner (next time)...

Oh, and thanks again to the "Easterners" - there were plenty of people who traveled to see the BoDeans, but I was downright impressed at the drive and determination of those who made sacrifices over the holidays to bring the New Year in with the BoDeans!!

I'll let the pictures say the rest (sorry if they come out big...too tired to mess with them or touch up with the red eye thingy)

Yes, it was such a nice compliment, although he wasn't so bad looking either! :D

I agree that Mo's was a wonderful suggestion -=- cozy little room, great atmosphere, great people, and even post show it was a great place to unwind a bit!

Harry, I agree with you, totally. Best New Year's ever!

I think the photos say so much, that, once again, I'm letterless (pretty much) and now so late, I'm in a hurry! (photos to come later).

Amazing, Amazing, Amazing show... starting with Dave Alvin!

The entire night was terrific, including closing down Linneman's. And, Jeanette, about the time you gave up I walked out into the street and hailed a cab... came right over. And, by the way, I don't think I warmed up until morning... Next time, we'll all be together at Linnemans with our man Sam.

I was thinking I wasn't with my family (Teresa) on NYE and that wasn't good... but I called her at midnight and then there was all of this "other" family around me. Thanks. Thanks. Thanks.

My favorite hightlight of the evening was when Jane came down from the balcony to join us and told me that she'd just been proposed to and had accepted. Absolutely terrrific! Congratulations Jane and Davin and I can't wait for the wedding. Perfect timing, perfect location and isn't it amazing how some things just come around full circle. I wish you both all the happiness and time that two lives can hold. (oh yeah, getting that kiss at midnight was incredibly special, too!)

The party at Mo's, exquisite. The party in Kerri's suite, perfect. The entire evening, unbelievable!

And New Year's Day was... ummm, ummm, ummm, stellar! (except for the Badgers' fiasco)

Thank you to everyone who was there in body and spirit to make this such a wonderful beginning to 2005... I have a really good feeling about 2005! And especially, once again, thank you so very much to the greatest band in the world, the band that speaks to our minds, hearts and souls and brings out the very best in all of us.

With love, admiration and true devotion,
Kathy

Minerva, Carrie and Kelly Thanks for the great pictures! It was great meeting all you guys!

The NYE show was probably the best live show that I have ever seen! I am glad that I made the trip from New Hampshire, Also glad that I didnt bring my snow shoes and snorkel jacket!

When I look at all the pictures that have been posted, I notice one thing, How happy everyone looks! I'd like the band to know that they and their music brought us all together, all from different corners of the country.. and made us all very happy! I want to thank them for that.

It was great to see a couple of other Bostonians Dave and Lisa make the trip. It was great to meet you guys and we should get together at the Boston Brew Works in Salem sometime soon.

Big Red it was great meeting you and your Nancy,

Congrads to Jane and Dave! Getting engaged at a NYE Bodeans show, Isn't that what dreams are made of?

And what can I say about the rest.. Harry and Carrie, Greg and Jeanette, Sharon from Chicago, George,Minerva and Tom, It was great hanging out with all of you guys.

Moe's was great before the show, and after the show Kathy must of shown a little leg flagging down a cab because we finally did get to Linemans and closed the place.

Some other things that I learned while I was in MKE and Madtown:

That when I got home, I noticed that my scrapper was missing......

A parking garage is known as a "ramp".....

That Tequila is good!....

In Wisconsin you guys have "weather".....but not every day...

Cheese balls are called "Cheese Curds"....

That you can get a boiled egg encased in sausage and deep-fried....

That 4 days is not long enough to memorize all the different types of draft beers availible.....

That in most places a shot is only $2.00 more when ordering a beer (I became very familiar with this fact).......

That Tequila is good!....

That you should deffinetly order a "Chaser" with a spicy Bloody Mary....

That people in MKE and Madison do not sleep, and they do not eat...

That Madison could use another taxi company...

That you have to order the food at the Harmony at the bar, but do not get to close to the bar or Miss crabby pants bartender will yell at you.....

And did I mention....That Tequila is good!....

Last but not least, That the Bodeans are the greatest and I am glad to call myself a fan, and to be associated with all the other great Bo fans out there in the universe...

Frank

Frank, I would like to comment on some of your notes on things learned in MKE and Mad-Town:

My scrapper is missing, too!! Kathy, maybe design one for us???

Tequila is always good, Frank, but it was especially good in Mad-Town!

I can't figure out when they will have "weather" either because it "isn't every day"

I refuse to call cheese balls "Cheese Curds" - especially after a conversation with Harry when we first got to the Pabst and decided to go to the Bar instead of waiting in line...

That's a "Scotch" egg I think, Frank and yes they're good!! I'll call you when we make them over here...

Not only is 4 days is NOT long enough to memorize all the different types of draft beers available, but I can't remember any one of the names now EITHER (maybe I studied too much?)

Yes, tequila is good!...

Of the people in MKE and Madison that do not sleep or eat, Kerri and Kathy need far less than any other BoDeans fan I know...!

Madison could DEFINITELY use another taxi company...

And FINALLY, that my next visit to the Harmony will mean making sure I order first and THEN sit down; and if Miss Crabby Pants is there, I WON'T ask her to take a group picture!

Love ya guys! My best to the BAND for the great shows!

Quick 2 questions...Does anyone know why Kevin wasn't playing these last 2 shows? Don't get me wrong, Kenny A. was incredible, I was just curious. Also, is it me, or has Kurt's purple guitar been noticeably absent from his guitar rotation? I don't think I saw him playing it either night last week. All powerful BoDeanie, maybe you can shed some light???:-)

Hello everyone, I am finally up & running again with my computer, I logged on with Berts account! OK.......so where do I begin to describe what a night we had on NYE, we had the best time we have had in a long time, the trip, the friends (old & new) the show....ahhhhh priceless.... everything was picture perfect! We started out with a couple drinks at the hotel, proceeded to Mo's (could there have been better company!!!!!) 2 delicious cosmo's, great conversation with great friends, (yet we hardly know you...it just seems like we do) and then on to one of the best Bodeans shows we have ever been apart of! I truly did not want the night or the show to end! We had excellent seats, I'm still in awe of the whole night cause we had sooooooo much fun. I know people describe things as "2" much fun but this night was even better, "3" much fun!!!!! It was wonderful to see old friends & to meet new friends, I cannot mention names for fear of leaving someone out, but just know that we remember you all & truly appreciate the fellow fans that have become friends by having one thing in common.....our love of the Bodeans! I'm thankful every one made it home ok, I hope flights weren't too bad & that long car rides weren't tooooo boring. (I know Bert & I thought 4hrs. was long enough in the car!) What can I say.....We have been blessed & LIFE IS GOOD....To all of you....May 2005 be one of your best, filled with good health, happiness, & of course many, many Bodeans shows!!!!! With our love & best wishes... Mary & Bert P.S. we do have some great pictures of the band from our great seats, plus some funny pre-game pics. from Mo's, I'll have Bert help me send them along this weekend! Happy friday to you all!

The up-girl is me or should I say Bert (he'll be thrilled to know he's registered as such!) And it was typed out as u.p. girl (as in the upper peninsula) any way, maybe I'm ok with my old registration again....HOORAY! Mary

Hey friends I have never met - thanks for the great stories and pictures. I hope some day to join the party.

Any chance someone could go through and identify the cast of characters in the pictures? I would love to put some faces to the names.

Can't tell ya why Kenny was with them - but he was with them the whole week (not just the 2 shows in WI). Sure hope everything is ok with Kevin.

I mentioned in my reviews of the Joliet and Chicago shows from last month that the purple guitar was MIA. I also wondered about it then. Funny how I never would have thought a particular guitar would be that important to me - but I miss it! :-)

I know this is going to sound really backwards and even makes me look like a hypocrite...let the flames begin if they must....

But I'm uncomfortable putting names to faces in pictures. I don't want to compromise anyone else's stance on the issue of giving to much info online.

I realize that I compromised that by posting some of my pictures in the beginning of the thread, and if it bothers anyone, I'm sorry.

FLAME!!!!FLAME!!!There's your FLAMES.Val,I think when pictures are taken of BoDeans fans I would hope that they wouldn't mind being posted on THE BoDeans website.I could be wrong. Thanks to everyone who took pics and posted 'em.I for one really appreciate it.Then again, none of mine came out so a picture of a sheep humping a fly holding a BoDeans sign would make me happy.

Val - May I offer a bucket-o-water?

If any individuals care to identify themselves please do so. I know I would appreciate it. If you prefer to remain annonymous, I can certainly understand that. I guess I just tend to type before I think sometimes . . .

Not that anyone would care, but here's my ugly mug. The pretty one is my granddaughter, I'm so proud.

Val, that is a very good point, and I'm glad you posted your thoughts for others to read and respect. I myself, hesitated going back to post names with pics with just leaving it up to the individual.

Hugs to all,

Min

Wow olsalt, you seem to really start some stuff on this board. :-)

BTW, Hope Harry is OK after obxman posted his name and picture. Sarcasm intended.

Love the belt, Harry.

Wilay,

I'm sure Harry if just fine! Actually, he is very fine! :-)

Osalt, thanks for sharing. And in return... I'm the blonde in the light blue-gray dress. By the way, your granddaughter is indeed beautiful and you should be proud. Hey, now if we're ever at the same show we can say "hi."

W - I keep my mouth shut for two months and the first thing I do is stick my foot in it, guess I just don't get it sometimes.

Kathy - Thanks for the reply, but then, why wait to say hi? Think of the third song from the NYE set list, that's the way I am saying "HELLO ! ! !".

Sounds like you had a wonderful time NYE. I am jealous. We went to a nice blues show, but I would have rather been in MKE. I hope the boys play a lot of dates this year, anything close to Omaha and we'll be there. Hope to see you down the line.

FINALLY - I have time to say THANK YOU ALL for such a special night on NYE. All you truly great eastcoasters - YOU MADE THE NIGHT! I can only
re-iterate(sp)the many feelings of thanks and happiness shared on this board, but moreover - with today's craziness happening all around us, I cannot help but feel a little better about this world having met complete unknowns from all over only to find they too are hard working, caring, smart, fun lunatics(like me) and share basically the same simple values of being good people, and enjoying the luck we all have to meet others and see the best in them. I will look at this board always and hope to see each of you in the future either here in Milwaukee(summerfest? Yeah baby!) -or why not we head to the East coast next time?
Blessing to you all. Fell free to stay in touch -
markbo43@yahoo.com - Congrats Dave & Jane!

Tom (osalt), HELLO!!!!!!

Big Red and Jeanette, you are both so right... and I'm really looking forward to that East Coast reunion. But for me and you Big Red, there's (hopefully) Summerfest!

Minerva, either it'll be the midnight blue dress, the red lips or those smokin' silver shoes!

Harry, I don't even want to know!

By now, we have all recovered from all the NYE fun! And beginning our new year with exciting new beginnings...

Thanks for all the good wishes, I have told my sons, need to proclaim the good news to the rest of my family since my BoDeans family already knows, and now to figure out some plans...

Currently, I have only decided on the music, imagine that!!!

all this stuff is easier when you are young...

For now I am still,
Just Jane

You guys forced me to revisit this entire thread. Thank you !

I see, once again, that Frank posted that he'd travel to the east coast shows (south and west). Well he can't right now, but he has told me that "one of us needs to be at those shows." I will be, but now my question is... he leaves his shoes on, I take mine off, how do I represent us both in this scenario? Do I leave one shoe behind in the back hallway?
